Austin owns the sheep ranch neighbouring Dakota's Ridge. He hates wolves more than anything, and always finds ways to sneak around the poaching laws, killing as many as he can. He is also the very man responsible for killing Dakota's mother. He causes as much trouble as he can with Jeff and Taylor, dispising the very idea of an animal refuge.
Duke (a hound) is owned by Austin, a rancher that neighbours with the conservation. Hating wolves even more than his owner, Duke will do anything to get his teeth on one. Rocky, however, was the only wolf to have escaped him, and he has sworn to himself to make up for his mistake. He finds ways to sneak into the park to try and accomplish his task
